About Me

What started as banter in a curry house... ended up as me entering Iron Man 2011 in Nice; a triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26.2 miles, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. So I dug out the arm bands, attached the stabilisers and dusted off the muddy trainers and training has begun... While putting myself through this torture I thought it would be a good idea to raise money for a worthwhile cause. The charity I have chosen is The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. www.cftrust.org.uk If you would like to sponsor me in my feat and give money to the CF Trust, you can donate at the link below. www.justgiving.com/Simon-Bawden

Week Sixteen

Swam 152 lengths
Biked 140km
Ran 25km

Still really enjoying getting out on the bike in the evenings and completing laps of Richmond park.  You will be pleased to know that there have been no more getting stuck in my peddles incidents although I did see a girl at the weekend fall off in exactly the same way, and felt bad for her but also glad it was not me : ) With the Iron man fast approaching it time to start putting some real distances on to my weekly updates.  I have been focusing on bike followed by run sessions this week, to build up the tolerance and  ability to run on tired legs.  An evenings exercise consists of 45km, three laps of Richmond Park and home,  followed by a 5km run. Exercise time 2.5hrs. Till next week.......Roll on Pain !
