About Me

What started as banter in a curry house... ended up as me entering Iron Man 2011 in Nice; a triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26.2 miles, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. So I dug out the arm bands, attached the stabilisers and dusted off the muddy trainers and training has begun... While putting myself through this torture I thought it would be a good idea to raise money for a worthwhile cause. The charity I have chosen is The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. www.cftrust.org.uk If you would like to sponsor me in my feat and give money to the CF Trust, you can donate at the link below. www.justgiving.com/Simon-Bawden

Week Eighteen

Swam 152
Biked 82km
Ran 30km

Experienced my first incident of RACING RAGE this week. There I was cycling along, minding my own, and this chap who seemed to think he was racing in the Tour De France, came up so close he almost crashed into me. So here is the conversation that followed:

Si: That's a bit close mate
Idiot on bike: If we're in a peloton (group of cyclists) in the Tour De France I'd slipstream you and then overtake you.
Si: We're not in the bleeping peloton, you bleep we're in Richmond Park you bleep.
Idiot on bike: Don't call me a bleep you bleep.
Si: Do you wanna stop and discuss this matter?
Idiot on bike: No I don't, don't be such a child.
Si: Well bleep off then.
Idiot retreats on his bike, Iron Si continues full steam ahead to train another day!

Achieved a personal best in the pool, 152 lengths in 66 minutes.

Til next week, roll on pain!
