About Me

What started as banter in a curry house... ended up as me entering Iron Man 2011 in Nice; a triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26.2 miles, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. So I dug out the arm bands, attached the stabilisers and dusted off the muddy trainers and training has begun... While putting myself through this torture I thought it would be a good idea to raise money for a worthwhile cause. The charity I have chosen is The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. www.cftrust.org.uk If you would like to sponsor me in my feat and give money to the CF Trust, you can donate at the link below. www.justgiving.com/Simon-Bawden

Week Fourteen

Swam 60 lengths
Biked 80km
Ran 15km

Feeling a bit frail from my sick/rest week, I returned to training as usual, only to get food poisoning,  with only half a bowl of soup in 48 hrs i was in no shape to do any training.  Although every cloud has a silver lining and mine was a phone call from Mark Henley the Manager of Prologue Bikes, 232 Upper Richmond Road West.  He had rang to say that he had managed to up grade my Cube GTC  Pro to a GTC Race and that because I was doing it for such a worthy cause there would be no charge.  So a massive thank you to Mark and the lads at Prologue for their excellent service getting me setup and their contribution to a worthy charity.  If you are interested in buying a bike, please give Mark a ring on the shop number 0208 878 6266 and mention Ironsi and I am sure he will be as helpful to you as he was with me.  He also kindly gave me a Prologue biking shirt which I will be wearing with pride whilst training! Till next week...... roll on PAIN!
