About Me

What started as banter in a curry house... ended up as me entering Iron Man 2011 in Nice; a triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26.2 miles, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. So I dug out the arm bands, attached the stabilisers and dusted off the muddy trainers and training has begun... While putting myself through this torture I thought it would be a good idea to raise money for a worthwhile cause. The charity I have chosen is The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. www.cftrust.org.uk If you would like to sponsor me in my feat and give money to the CF Trust, you can donate at the link below. www.justgiving.com/Simon-Bawden

Week Ten

Swam 240 lengths
Biked 50km
Ran 30km

After the fourth morning in a row of resetting my alarm for an extra hour of snoozy time rather than sixty lengths of the pool it is clear that mornings are still not my thing!  I am still looking for a bike, but it looks like the Cube GTC carbon frame is the clear favorite.  I have found that with increasingly longer runs, that I have to keep my body position steady and not bounce too much as it makes my stomach feel sick! Till next week, roll on PAIN!
