About Me

What started as banter in a curry house... ended up as me entering Iron Man 2011 in Nice; a triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bike and a marathon (26.2 miles, 42.195 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. So I dug out the arm bands, attached the stabilisers and dusted off the muddy trainers and training has begun... While putting myself through this torture I thought it would be a good idea to raise money for a worthwhile cause. The charity I have chosen is The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. www.cftrust.org.uk If you would like to sponsor me in my feat and give money to the CF Trust, you can donate at the link below. www.justgiving.com/Simon-Bawden

Week Twenty

Swam 200 lengths
Biked 147km
Ran 31km

I hit the outdoor pool at Brockwell Lido for a couple of sessions with the wetsuit on, the pool is a 50m pool and so it is a lot easier to get into a rythmn and just concentrate on your technique. I'm reaching the pinnacle of my trainning now with longer sessions in all disciplines. Went for an amaizing ride in Devon whilst visiting Mum, Dad and Fin; I rode from Mary Tavy to Totnes and back, hill after hill and strong winds made it extremely tough but the views were amazing!  With all the training I have now lost 8kg and am down to a lean 83kg which certainly has helped my running, and although still not super quick, I ran a personal best: 21km in 1hour 40.
Until next week roll on pain!
